Like the casement window, the awning window features a crank mechanism, but the hinges are mounted at the top, so it opens from the bottom up along a horizontal axis rather than to the side. Its multi-point locking system provides superior weather sealing to protect you from both the cold and noise.

Even though it opens differently, the awning window provides excellent air circulation and allows you to ventilate your home even when it’s raining! Typically wider than it is tall, it offers protection against intruders when installed in the basement, thanks to the top-opening shutter mechanism.

Its ease of maintenance, practicality, and versatility make it a smart choice for any home.

A flexible window

Awning windows are often recommended for basements, bathrooms, or above a door as a transom, but they are suitable for any room in a house or condo. They are also used as ventilation openings in larger fixed windows.

Available in a variety of colors to complement the exterior siding, awning windows can also be stacked or paired with fixed windows to create large openings and bring plenty of natural light into a space. Their timeless style complements both modern and traditional architecture.
